Southern California Mark Abel recently released his song-cycle The Dream Gallery on Delos, and it’s really starting to catch fire! And the best news, is that he has a Facebook Page! So head on over to Facebook.com/markabelmusic, give him a “Like,” and start exploring!
One fun aspect of building this new page was that it was the first “from scratch” Page that we had to put together in the new Facebook Timeline layout, which made for an interesting new look at the format. Since the page launched along side the digital release of the recording, it’s a nice plus to be able to watch the response to the album evolve, and the awareness of the composer himself evolve. We’re extremely happy to announce that after an intense week-and-a-half of effort that the all-new JadeMedia.org Experience is here!
And it launches with an all new look, feel, optimization, a new logo, and more importantly – relevant content! And most exciting is that we’ve helped to bring all-things-Jade into one place! Read More→
When Facebook revealed they would be switching business Pages to the new Timeline format on March 30th, we had a couple of reactions — the first, if we’re honest, was a little eye-rolling about having to do re-designs, re-training, etc., but in general we were pretty excited. The Timeline brings an unprecedented amount of customization of content on Facebook Pages, and has a few nice design features for rotating promotions with the new cover images; but what was most exciting to us was the end of “landing pages” and the ability for Page apps/tabs to break out of the 520px wide cage that they were in previously. We’ve been pretty quiet on the blogging front, but it’s not for lack of social media news (Facebook IPO launch anyone?) — we’ve been so busy making sure our client’s blogs and social media are going full steam, that we’ve let our own slack! It’s one of those “the cobbler has no shoes” sorts of things. But perhaps the following update on our clients will fill you in on what’s kept the writing to a miminimum:
Much like they did here in Dallas, the Reference Recordings Team is taking you behind the scenes of their recording sessions with the Kansas City Symphony!
Not only did they take time to do an interview with the symphony:
And not only have they been sharing great pictures on Facebook, Twitter, and their blog:
They’ve also been giving live updates via the #RRatKC hashtag on their Twitter account!
Delos has had a busy 2012 with a great new release of new Brass Quintet, and already a digital release of a new recordings of songs from American composer Margaret Ruthven Lang:
New artist client Dulcie Taylor has a new release coming out March 13th, but the unofficial CD Release Concert is next weekend! So to get fans excited we’ve been helping her “leak” a few samples from the album to her ReverbNation and Facebook Fans. Take a list here:

Yes you read that right! Pianist Jade Simmons will be performing a duet with Georgia Tech’s “improvising robotic marimba player” during her upcoming ARTech artist-in-residence performance! She’ll also be having an “ARTech After Party” that evening — details on her Facebook Page.
As we work to guide and develop their social media efforts, we are happy to announce that they are hosting a giveaway for their concert in San Francisco this weekend on their Facebook Page! Check it out right here, give them a like, and enter to win!

As we continue our catchup efforts from the Holiday break, we wanted to share a couple of exciting new releases from our label clients as well as other news!
Delos has a new release from the brass quintet da Capo Brass called From the Beginning. The CD comes out at the end of this month (1/31/12), but is already available for digital download, and debuted at #8 in the iTunes Classical Charts! So congratulations to Delos and da Capo Brass!
da Capo Brass
DE 3417
In keeping with Delos’ founding principle of showcasing exceptional American artists, here is an auspicious debut recording from da Capo: a superb North Carolina-based brass quintet. Musicians will immediately pick up on the album’s title, “From the Beginning” (English for the musical term “da Capo”).
And who wouldn’t thrill to the majestic sound of a crack brass ensemble? This instrumental family’s unique sonorities – ranging from the trumpet’s clarion brilliance to the French horn’s mellow tones –can’t be beat for music of noble pomp or stirring glory – not to mention material of a more humorous nature. And, given the brasses’ distinctively varied tonal qualities, what better way to pick apart more complex music like a Bach fugue?
Reference Recordings released the next LP release in the Reference Mastercuts series today! One of the best-known audiophile labels has finally gone back to creating vinyl releases after finding quality ways to reproduce the medium up to their high standards, and the first two LPs were released to enormous success. The new release featuring their recording of the Minnesota Orchestra performing works from Rachnaminoff is critically acclaimed as their best recording in their 30+ year history!
RACHMANINOFF: SYMPHONIC DANCES; VOCALISE (RM-1504)
Eiji Oue/ Minnesota Orchestra
33 1/3 rpm, Half-Speed Mastered, 200 gram virgin vinyl from Quality Record Pressings in gatefold jacket
FIRST TIME EVER ON LP!
Widely believed to be the finest orchestral recording RR has ever made.
Sergei Rachmaninoff was one of the most beloved composers of the twentieth century. His music is redolent of his Russian homeland, and it sings long, lush melodies that define the term “romantic.” Everyone who knows and loves his piano concertos will enjoy these lyrical and dynamic works for orchestra. The “Symphonic Dances” in recent years have become one of Rachmaninoff’s most-performed scores. “Vocalise” is one of the great classical melodies, and is hummable by everyone. Grammy® Nominated 2002– Best Engineered Album – Classical; Keith O. Johnson, engineer
