Katie Luther: The Opera

We are happy to be working with the wonderful new project Katie Luther: The Opera, launched by EverydayOpera founder Lori Lewis!

For more information (and to support this project), please visit the Katie Luther Project IndieGoGo Page.

Rosebrook Classical will be working with the Katie Luther Project’s Facebook Page and advising the social and digital media strategies to be taken on by the project’s board.

“In “Katie Luther: The Opera” you will meet the woman behind the man who reshaped the course of history forever. This is the true story of the Reformation from a seldom-seen perspective. Through Katie’s eyes we see Martin Luther the family man, the husband and father.”

New Digital Contemporary Classical Magazine

iciyl-magThomas Deneuville’s I Care If You Listen blog is one of our favorite outlets for new music and and boundary-pushing performances. Whenever we have a client with a new music release, ICIYL is a top place we want to see it reviewed. So, we were pretty happy for them when they launched the new I CARE IF YOU LISTEN Magazine app for the iPad and iPhone 5, and wanted to share it here! And just so you don’t think we’re the only ones who are excited, the magazine was already listed in The Guardian‘s “20 best iPhone and iPad apps” this week. So if you’re an iPad user, make sure to download it and take advantage of the seven-day free trial.

New Rosebrook Media Site — Out To Lunch

Another new Rosebrook Media creation is live, and this one features a reboot for the NYC-based band Out To Lunch.

Pushing the depths of the underground jazz scene, cutting edge New York City-based Out to Lunch will be releasing its third album, No One Left Behind, on one of the finest indie record labels, Mesa Recordings. Tracks such as “In Da House” and “It’s a Jungle Out There” move effortlessly from the world of funk to breakbeat, from dub to house, creating a sound that hits both the mind and feet.

This site was based on the Builder Child theme “Noise” in order to take advantage of the new Builder “blocks” for audio and events. LoopBuddy was also used to create some dynamic layouts for the needs and wants of the band. Check it out!

About Site5:

“Our current hosting philosophy is based on guaranteed performance. While other hosts may try to cram as many accounts as possible on shared servers, we have used our years of experience and the technical analysis performed by our technical gurus to determine exactly how many accounts we should be putting on any given server. In addition, we are continually upgrading our hardware platforms to be among the best in the industry.

Each top-of-the-line server we now use could easily handle an insane number of clients, but we still keep the numbers low. It helps us sleep easier at night.”

Rosebrook Classical’s Top 10 CDs of 2012

Through all of our various clients, we get the privilege of listening to a TON of great music. So as we head into 2013, Rosebrook Classical owner David Weuste is letting you in on his top 10 CDs of 2012 (Click the artwork to view on Amazon):

2RR-127Cover#10 Playing With Fire

Dallas Wind Symphony

Reference Recordings

While I’m not the biggest fan of concert band music, what set this CD apart for me was the Playing With Fire work itself. There’s something about the addition of the Jim Cullum Jazz Band with the Dallas Wind Symphony that just works. This piece and RR’s recording of it might be the most fun I’ve had listening to a concert band work in a long time.

da Capo Brass - from the beginning#9 From The Beginning

da Capo Brass

Delos

This CD came out in January 2012, and it’s a testament to it’s staying power that it jumped to the front of my mind when compiling this list. The da Capo Brass ensemble is absolutely stellar, and all of these new works for brass quintet need to go into repertoires across the country, and fast. This is definitely a “must have” recording for any brass player interested in chamber music.

LIVE IN GREECE#8 LIVE IN GREECE: From Constantinople to California

Cappella Romana

I have absolutely loved working with this ensemble this year. If you are at all a fan of chant, or Orthodox music, this CD is an absolute must-listen. There have been times this year that this recording has been a bit of an obsession — and that’s a good thing!

DE3410cover#7 New Love Must Rise

Donald George, tenor; Lucy Mauro, piano;

Delos

There is probably no other composer in the last couple of years that has held my attention like Margaret Ruthven Lang — and I owe it all to Donald George and Lucy Mauro for their fantastic research and delightful recordings. This recording and Volume One: Love Is Everywhere need to be in every American music enthusiasts collection.

FireEPtwitterbg#6 Playing With Fire EP

Jade Simmons

Superwoman Records

There are some incredibly fun tracks on this EP, but for me, it’s this high on my list because of one reason — Dolphy to the Death. I don’t know what it is about this work, but I could groove to it on repeat all day and never get bored.

Composer Mark Abel Now on Facebook!

Mark Abel Facebook PageSouthern California Mark Abel recently released his song-cycle The Dream Gallery on Delos, and it’s really starting to catch fire! And the best news, is that he has a Facebook Page! So head on over to Facebook.com/markabelmusic, give him a “Like,” and start exploring!

One fun aspect of building this new page was that it was the first “from scratch” Page that we had to put together in the new Facebook Timeline layout, which made for an interesting new look at the format. Since the page launched along side the digital release of the recording, it’s a nice plus to be able to watch the response to the album evolve, and the awareness of the composer himself evolve.
